This annual concert includes performances by several local songwriting artists who are featured on the 2008 Pittsburgh Songwriters CD. These performances are of a variety of music genres for audiences of all ages. This year's performances include special presentations by local recording personalities Heather Kropf, who has been featured in productions of WQED TV Holiday Specials and WYEP Radio spotlights, and Jack Erdie who has acted in stage and movie productions, including the movie The Road which starred Viggo Mortensen. Jack also hosted the Threepenny Opry songwriter series, and has had his music spotlighted on folk radio programs around the country. Joining Heather and Jack will be recording artists Ron "Hookstown" Brown, Sue Gartland, and John Hayes, along with several local songwriters featured on the 2008 Pittsburgh Songwriters CD who will be spotlighting their latest works. George Salamacha and Nancy Deckant with their band Red Moon Run will host the concert. The entire price of the ticket goes towards the cost of room and board for student volunteers who work with The Appalachia Project. This charity project carries out repairs and upgrades to properties of aged and infirmed residents in the affected area. Suggested admission donation is $7.50 at the door.
